How to build a CV/Resume

Opinions about CV's are like butt holes, everybody's got one.

So it can be difficult to know where to turn to get advice on CV writing, who to believe? who to trust? Sadly the few people you should listen to when it comes to CV are only met when it is too late, namely a recruiter , a hiring manager , they know exactly what should be on that resume of yours but by then it's probably too late and the job is gone, so what are you to do?

Well fear not I have put together some of the best tips, tricks and how to, to help you build a powerful CV.

First things first, before you dive into endless articles and guides, you need to decide whether you are actually going to be able to do it yourself , do you have enough literacy? Computer and software access and knowledge? You may be a great cleaner, warehouse person or factory worker but writing a CV may something you will ever become good at or even if you eventually did, it is too far in the future you need a CV now.
If that is your case ,they are a couple of ways for you to get help, the first would be to enlist the help of a National Career service adviser, they are free (up to 3 face to face) interactions and unlimited phone and web support you can find them there. The other way would be to visit the Swindon Job Club , where they will be able to help you.

If you now feel up to it browse the resources that I have put together in a magazine format and use them to guide you to a better more effective CV. I wish you the best of success in your job search.
